program overview and objectives
This innovative workshop provides the why, what and how of workplace flexibility at both the individual and organizational level. Participants will learn the business case for flexibility, engage in activities designed to assess where they are on the flexibility spectrum, and learn about effective strategies and solutions for developing, planning, implementing and evaluating workplace flexibility initiatives.

learning objectives
1. Through the exploration of case studies and the sharing of cutting-edge workplace-based research, participants will learn how to make the business case for flexible workplace practices

2. The Flexibility Spectrum model will be explained and participants will engage in an organizational flexibility self-assessment to serve as a starting point for the design of their organizational flexibility strategy

3. Participants will learn effective monitoring techniques and be provided with metrics to measure the business effectiveness of their workplace flexibility initiative

about the speakers
Jennifer Swanberg, Ph.D.
Dr. Jennifer E. Swanberg, is the executive director and founder of iwin, an associate professor in the UK College of Social Work and a Research Fellow of the Boston College Work & Family Roundtable. She has eighteen years of research experience on topics such as human capital and quality workplace development as business, work-life effectiveness, and economic development strategies as well as access to workplace flexibility among under-represented working populations. She co-authored The 1997 National Study of the Changing Workforce and has published widely in national research journals. She has appeared as a national and international work-life expert on television and radio, is recognized nationally for her research on work-life flexibility and is the recipient of several national awards.

Mac Werner
Mac has a B.S. in business from the University of Evansville, a M.S.W. from the University of Kentucky and is currently completing course work toward a Ph.D. in social work. His background includes over a decade of experience as a small business owner and substantial experience in program management and design. He is currently co-managing a Ford Foundation funded study examining the effects of quality work environments on business outcomes and employee work/life effectiveness. He is also the co-principal investigator of the Bluegrass Region High-Tech Entrepreneurial Environment Project.
