sessions include:
An Introduction to the Generations
Sissy Meredith, Commissioner with the Department of Human Resources Administration in the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet will guide participants through the generational and demographic profile of today’s workforce and what to expect for our future. We will discuss unique aspects of Kentucky’s generational workforce, help define common misnomers and stereotypes of the different generations in the workplace and explore the benefits and opportunities that a multi-generational workforce brings to an organization.

Leveraging Social Networking as a Strategic Business Tool
Joe Labianca, a University of Kentucky faculty member who specializes in social networking will introduce and discuss the use of available social networking technology opportunities for businesses and strategies for using social networking to impact business outcomes. Trasee Whitaker, Human Resources Manager for the employment law firm Dinsmore & Shohl, LLP, will present the opportunities and obstacles of implementing social networking policies and practices using business case studies. She will also discuss policy implications and legal issues that surround the use of social networking in organizations. We will also review how to create synergy among multiple generations with the use of social networking in your organization.

Development of Multi-Generational Teams & Mentoring Programs
Karen Hill, Vice President, Nurse Executive at Central Baptist Hospital and Warren Rogers, President of  W. Rogers Company will discuss the benefits and challenges of developing effective multi-generational teams and strategies for managing and supporting these teams. Learn effective strategies to maximize productivity and employee morale in a culturally diverse, multi-generation workplace. We also will explore a leader’s role in creating organizational synergy through multi generational learning and collaboration and approaches to mentoring programs.

Generational Perspectives: A Panel to Discuss Strategies for Synergy
Representative of the generations in today’s workplace, our panel will discuss: the challenges and opportunities they see and/or experience in today’s multi-generational workplace, current practices in their organization that support career management and engagement for their generation, and specific practices to recruit and retain multiple generations. We will also discuss practices that our panel has found to be successful in creating generational synergy in their workplace and beyond.
